ITINERARY:
DAY 01: DEPARTURE – MANILA - ATHENS
Depart Manila, aboard on Oman Air, enjoy meals amenities and entertainment.
DAY 02: ARRIVE – ATHENS (D)
Meet in the arrivals hall at Athens airport and transfer to the hotel. In the evening transfer for dinner to a local restaurant. And overnight in Athens Hotel.
DAY 03: ATHENS – MYKONOS – HALF DAY MYKONOS ISLAND TOUR (BLD)
Early Breakfast or breakfast box at the hotel. Transfer to the Athens port and take the Speed Boat (Ticket Included to the island of Mykonos. Meet on arrival at the port of Mykonos and with an English, Speaking Assistant proceed on your Half
Day Island Tour and Walking Tour in the Town. The tour of the island will start with a visit to the capital of Mykonos, Ano Mera. The big square in the middle of the village with all traditional café and restaurants and the big marble fountain, the Monastery of Panagia Tourliani with the unique icon of Holy Mary, makes Ano Mera the most attractive and traditional village of Mykonos. We continue our drive to some of the most famous beaches of the island like, Kalafatis, Agios Stefanos and Agios Giannis with the perfect view to Delos. On the way back we will explore the labyrinth of Mykonos port town with famous Windmills, Little Venice, Paraportiani church, the small fishermen port with the church of Saint Nikolas, and “Yialos” area with all café and restaurants till the main Manto square. Enjoy some free time on your own into the small narrow streets of Mykonos with all shops and white small houses. Afternoon free at leisure, until you transfer to Mykonos.
DAY 04: MYKONOS – SANTORINI – HALF DAY OIA TOUR (BLD):
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to Mykonos port and take the Speed Boat to the island of Santorini. Meet upon arrival at Santorini port and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon meet at the hotel and with an English Speaking Assistant proceed on your Half Day Tour. Depart for the traditional village of Oia which is located on the northern tip of the island, high on the cliff top. Oia hosts the most magnificent views on Santorini and a picturesque road with cliffs on one side and sea on the other leads to this attractive village typical of Santorinian architecture with houses sunk deep into the volcanic soil, their whitewashed walls and blue domes sparkling in the sunlight. Completing the tour transfer back and overnight.
DAY 05: FULL DAY SANTORINI ISLAND TOUR INCLUDING WINE TASTING (BLD):
Breakfast in the hotel. Meet at the hotel and with an English Speaking Assistant proceed on your Full Day Island Tour. Drive to the picturesque village of Megalochori with the historical mansions, old traditional houses and pirate hideaways. Then head up to Prophet Elias, the highest point of the island, for a shortstop for photo shooting and viewing – only from the outside (no entrance is allowed) – in the monastery. Continue to the beaches of Perivolos or Perissa. The bus will depart for the spectacular location of Pyrgos where ‘’Santo Wines’’ winery is located, there wine tasting will take place as well as an introduction to the history of Santorinian wines. The tour will continue visiting Fira the capital town of the island. Wandering through the white cobbled streets of Fira a town of about 2000 inhabitants, one gets the feel of the oldworld charm blended in with the modern day comforts and Gold Street where someone can find the most interesting jewelries, followed by a dinner and back to the hotel.
DAY 06: SANTORINI – ATHENS (B/L/D)
Breakfast in the hotel. Free at own leisure in the morning. Transfer to Santorini port and take the ferry if no speed Boat. Meet on arrival at the Athens port of Piraeus and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Athens Hotel.
DAY 07: HALF DAY ATHENS SIGHTSEEING TOUR:
Breakfast in the hotel. With an official English Speaking Guide proceed on your Half Day Athens City Tour. See Syntagma Square, the House of Parliament and the Tomb to the Unknown Soldier, guarded by the Evzones in their traditional costume. See the Athens Academy, the University and the National Library. On the Acropolis visit the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally “the harmony between material and spirit”, the Parthenon. Then free time & dinner.
DAY 08: ATHENS – ISTANBUL (B/L/D):
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to Athens airport for your flight to Istanbul. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel\
DAY 09: ISTANBUL - CANAKKALE (B/L/D):
Drive to Canakkale and cross the Dardanelles Strait by ferry. Arrive in the afternoon and visit the legendary city of Troy. We pass by the area known as Troas, where Paul had a vision during his second missionary journey and was called to Macedonia (Acts 16:8-13). Paul later spent a week in Troas preaching here and Eutychus was resurrected (Acts 20:6-12). Ancient Troy is well-known for its 3rd and 4th Century BC excavations. Don't forget to have your picture taken from the top of the Trojan Horse. Overnight in Canakkale.
DAY10: CANAKKALE-ASSOS-PERGAMON-KUSADASI (B/L/D)
Breakfast and drive to Assos, this picturesque ancient settlement dating back to the Hittite KingTutalia IV is located off the coast of the Aegean, across the island of Lesbos. Visit the Temple of Athena and Necropolis, free time at small Old Assos Harbour. Continue to Pergamon, the city built into a hillside to visit the ruins of the Altar of Zeus and the ancient library and the lower part of Pergamon which is now called Bergama, where the largest building of Roman periods are located and known as The Red Basilica or The Red Court, built in 2nd century AD. Drive to Kusadasi and arrive late PM.
DAY11: KUSADASI-EPHESUS-PAMUKKALE(B/L/D)
Drive to Ephesus which is the most impressive archeological site in Turkey. It was the center of worship for the Greek Goddess Artemis. We will see the House of Mary, the Library of Celsus, the temple of Hadrian and a large Theatre. It's where the Apostle Paul was swept up into a riot as described in Acts 19:21-41. Tradition says that Apostle John
came to live near the town of Selçuk where is located the Church of St. John. Lunch will be served en route in Selçuk. Continue to Pamukkale (Cotton Castle), famous for its natural hot spring waters.
DAY12: HIERAPOLIS-LAODICEA-PHILADELPHIA-SARDIS-IZMIR-ISTANBUL(B/L/D)
After breakfast visit the Ancient Hierapolis and Laodicea (Laodikya) which has a large area littered with broken marble, tops of stone masonry walls and then drive to Philadelphia, the least distinguished of the cities of Seven Churches with very few ruins visible now. Ancient Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love is now called Alasehir which has thick Byzantine
walls that defended the city in the middle Ages. The most interesting ruins are a Byzantine basilica built of brick with a high arch and frescoes. The city was destroyed in 17 and 23 AD because of earthquakes, but rebuilt by Roman Emperor Tiberius. Visit also Sardis (Sart) which is one of the most picturesque areas of any of Seven Churches. It is set upon a
steep hill surrounded by an impregnable citadel. The city is sprawled below the citadel where there was a famous temple of Artemis dating back to 400 B.C.Recent excavations have uncovered a synagogue, the last meters of The Royal Road from Susa to Sardis and a gymnasium. Drive to Izmir for the evening flight to Istanbul. Arrive and transfer to the hotel.
DAY13: DEPARTURE ISTANBUL-MANILA (B)
After breakfast city tour including St. Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar. Then proceed to Galata Bridge for a Bosphorus cruise along the European and Asiatic shores of this beautiful strait. In the evening transfer to the airport for the return flight home.
DAY14: ARRIVE MANILA
Arrive Manila from a very memorable and enjoyable trip.
