Talc is not chalk, starch, or calcium carbonate. It is a mineral, an aluminum silicate, chemically similar to soapstone and asbestos, but its crystal/fibre form gives it different qualities. As a mineral it is already millions of years old (Jurassic I believe), so hardly in need of a best-before date. As with virtually ALL commercially-processed and produced items, the expiry date is to encourage you to waste more and buy more to help the bottom line of the manufacturer. (This applies to foods as well, although some pharmaceuticals may lose potency after a while).
